The GSMST Music Department has received numerous recognitions. Here is a sample of just a few:

ORCHESTRAFestival Disney

  • Students selected for GMEA All-State Orchestra each year
  • Students regularly selected for Atlanta area Honor Orchestras (ASYO, EYSO, GCYS, Kendall, etc).
  • Students regularly rated "superior" at GMEA Solo and Ensemble Peformance Evaluations
  • Ensembles regularly rated "superior" at GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation
  • Honor Orchestra 2017 GMEA In-Service Clinic Performance, Athens, GA - Classic Center
  • Honor Orchestra 2016 Festival Disney 1st place Division II Orchestra, 2nd place Overall Orchestra Division
  • Concert, Symphonic, & Philharmonic Orchestra 2015 Disney "You're Instrumental" Workshop participation
  • Honor Orchestra 2014 Carnegie Hall Performance - National Band and Orchestra Festival, New York, NY

BANDUniversal Studios

  • Symphonic Band 2014 New Orleans Performance and Po-Boy Festival attendance

CHORUS

  • Students regularly selected for GMEA District 13 Honor Chorus
  • Program expects continued success and growth after the inaugural year (2015-2016)

VISUAL ARTS

 

  • Students represented GSMST and Gwinnett County at the Dream@50 Art Contest.
  • Students have had artwork displayed in the lobby of the GA Dept. of Education. This is the largest student exhibit in the state.
  • Sstudents have had artwork selected for the “You Decide” Exhibit at the High Museum of Art.
  • A student’s photograph was selected to represent the State of GA on the 2013-2014 Official State Highway & Transportation Map. Approximately 1.6 million copies of this map will be printed.
  • A student was selected for the Governor’s Honors Program for Visual Arts. Student artwork displayed at 2013 Tapestry, the Gwinnett County Fine Arts Festival. 
  • A GSMST student received an award from ArtWorks Gwinnett. He also placed 2nd in the 2014 GWS High School Seniors Scholarship Show Binders Art Supplies and Frames competition.
