Dr. Matt Haynor

Dr. Matt Haynor is the Director of Bands and Music Technology at The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST). Dr. Haynor has a bachelor of music and master of music education degrees from the University of Georgia (UGA), and a doctor of musical arts degree from Boston University. Previous to his time at GSMST, Dr. Haynor taught in DeKalb County, at several private schools in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and at Jefferson High School in Jefferson, GA. He has served on staff with the UGA Summer Music Camp, UGA Marching Band Camp, and is active as a clinician and adjudicator throughout Georgia. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he served as Drum Major for the Redcoat Band and as a Graduate Assistant in the Band Department. 

 

Dr. Haynor's professional affiliations include the Georgia Music Educators Association, Technology in Music Education, International Society for Music Education, Pi Kappa Lambda, and the National Band Association. Dr. Haynor also marched with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, and was named a DCI World Champion in 2001 with The Cavaliers. Dr. Haynor and his wife are the proud parents of Ari and Ayla. Dr. Haynor maintains an active lifestyle, and has run two half-marathons, ridden several 100-mile bike rides, participated in a triathlon, and also enjoys doing Crossfit. Dr. Haynor also considers himself an amateur photographer.
